Weekend Race Report
It was a strong showing for KLS Racing's Kyle Wiegand at this weekends Stars of Karting event at Newcastle Motorsport Park in Indiana. During Friday's practice, Kyle was only 8th fastest but would go on to set the track record by Sunday.

At the end of Saturday's two ICC qualifiying sessions Kyle found himself rounding out the top 10 in 9th place but would move up to 4th place in the Prefinal. At the start of the Final Kyle moved into 3rd place. The three leaders pulled away from the rest of the field but Kyle had the fastest kart on the track. With one lap to go Kyle edged past Sodi Kart's Phillippe Gelinas to take the second position and score a podium win for KLS Racing.

Track conditions on Sunday were much improved with cooler weather. It was believed that the track record set by Alex Speed at last years Stars race would fall. During qualifying it happened as three racers bested Alex's time. Ron White came out on top though with a time of 1:01:392, good enough for Pole. Running a 1:01:775, Kyle managed to reserve 7th spot for the start of the Prefinal. After a lot of action at the front of the pack Kyle patiently waited for opportunities and finished 2nd.

The start of Sunday's Final sent nearly a dozen karts back to the pits. During the chase for the lead, Kyle was able to move past Jason Bowles and Ron White, putting him in second place. Kyle made a move past Velez to briefly take the top spot with 6 laps to go but Velez retook the spot shortly thereafter. On the last lap, Kyle took Velez under breaking going into the last turn to take the lead but slid out a little too far allowing Spicer to move up to 1st from 3rd. Kyle would cross the line in 2nd place to match his finish in Saturday's main.

During the final Kyle set the fastest lap with a 1:01:384, which was 10 thousands faster then Ron Whites track record setting time, during that mornings qualifying.
